I don't even like calling hunting a sport. Just doesn't really do it for me.
But before razorwit uses his razor wit, I know that the dictionary definition would classify it as a sport.

Well you can consider it murder. You can also consider it murder to pluck a daisy in a meadow. Anyway, let's see... I know I have something copied and ready to paste.... here we go.

"In ways that were apparently given to him." Once again I get that "God wants us to have dominion over animals" feeling that just seems completely wrong. We have the means of mastering the animal kingdom: we are the top. We are the f***ing kings and queens of the planet. That's great. But it wasn't given to us, now was it? Some Chinese guy invented gunpowder. It took years to refine guns to the point they are at now. We worked hard for the means of hunting for food and supplies that come from animals, such as fur or leather (don't say those things are any more wrong than eating meat because it's a waste to just eat it and throw the rest away). Still, we shouldn't go around killing animals unless we have to. If you will feed your family with something's meat and at the same time protect your crops, fine. If it's just for food, fine. It's much more sadistic to buy meat from a store, if you think about how it got there. Where I think we go wrong in this argument is that we separate ourselves from the rest of the animal kingdom. For instance, this whole free will stuff. Who says animals don't have free will? What the hell DO they have? Are aliens controlling their minds? Biologically/chemically, we're all very similar. We hunt just like other predators do. Why, though, turn it into a sport where the only result is a trophy in the form of an animal's head? I'd be pissed if some other life form grew more powerful and smarter than us and killed us for fun or sport. Hell, what if we wanted to eat their crops because they now own everything and we are starving so they go out and kill us to keep us from their fields? For them, it is justified, and I'm just talking in circles. I see points for both sides, but like I said before, it's natural to eat meat, but if you overdo it and start killing for sport, you might as well think about being in the situation of the prey.

I didn't say killing animals was murder. Technically murder is the killing of a human. Killing animals is slaughter.

I agree with you. Hunting is not sport. Years ago it used to be a natural way of life. In many countries it still is. However I don't agree with the type of hunting for prizes and fur/skins.
