Default How to Fail at Life
Anybody hear about the congressman (I heard about it but never looked too far into it so I don't remember if he is senate or house, and I'm pretty sure he is in Minnesota) who proposed to tax $0.50 more on gasoline per gallon to make the environment greener? I guess his plan was to charge more for gas so that people would buy less and global warming might be slowed down.

People can't pay more for gas as it is. Some are cutting back on luxuries and necessities so that they have enough gas to get to work and make more money that this guy wants to take from them to "save the environment". Firstly, I want to say that charging more for gas is not encouraging more environmentally safe travel. It's just bleeding the public out and limiting our right to drive. People will still be driving, and the pollution isn't going to go away just because America is poorer.

Also, I still don't believe in global warming. I mean, some scientists say that in a few hundred years we will all be dead and underwater, and that our use of fossil fuels is driving the earth to be hotter and causing crazy weather. Crazy weather isn't new. And besides, we all know the world goes through stages anyway. I figure that if humanity is going to die from all the ice in the world melting, it will happen whether or not we stop driving gas-powered vehicles. Sure, maybe humans are a factor in this global warming. Sure, maybe we're killing ourselves with gasoline (we certainly seem to be killing each other over it) but I don't see why we should try to change the world so that it might get a little hotter a little less quickly.

Exactly. I think the fossil fuels thing is kind of making it worse, but i think it's just part of a long cycle.

Yes, no matter what one's views are, we can all agree that we need to watch how we consume energy. But what we don't need is someone telling us that we will boil if we don't.

The hight gas goes up, the more people will have to pay for, it, it isn't going to stop them from doing everyday things.

Right. It'll make life harder, but it won't save the planet. Of course, that's the new thing among politicians: to appeal to people's fear of global warming.
